Bates, Lacy, Wagner, Weston notch first wins

Sprint points leader #17 Brent Bates, scores a feature win at Creek County Speedway. 8232; Winning for the tenth time overall, Stucks moved within three points of division leader Kenny Grumadas. Stucks chased down early leader Jeff Maggard for the second straight week and challenged for the lead after six laps. But it took until lap 12 to take the lead. Maggard held on to second and Grumadas finished third to protect his points lead for another week. Dann Gray earned a second victory in the pure stock divison with his move around Mark Duensing for the lead on lap eight. Duensing had led from the start but settled for second when Gray got past with four laps remaining. Brent Bates finally visited the winners circle for the first time this season in the sprint car main event. Bates is the points leader despite not having any wins, but that all changed as he wheeled the back number 17 to victory. Amish Cook: Church services travel to Eichers' home this week

We have had cool nights, which has made for some good sleeping. Perhaps this is the first taste of fall? After last week, with temperatures in the upper 90s, it was a relief. We were blessed with 0.4 inch of rain on Saturday. We are still in need of lots more, but that sure will help the gardens. The grass and garden needed it badly. We did get our third cutting of hay in last week. We are so thankful for every wagon load we can get from our own field. Hay is very expensive to buy right now. We had some pretty excited children yesterday when our dog, Frisco, had three puppies. Benjamin was walking by the dog house and heard the little puppies. He came running in to tell us that Frisco had her puppies. Our dogs Frisco and Rover are rat terriers. Frisco is very protective and a good mother to the pups. The children have one more week at home before starting another school term. School will open its doors on Sept. 2. Elizabeth will be home schooling her last year, eighth grade, while Su...
